President Grant delivers her own vagina monologue on 'Scandal'

On Scandal, President Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young) was coming to the realization that being the president of the United States requires a lot of personal sacrifice.

While getting ready for a White House state dinner, Mellie suddenly asked Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) if she wanted to just skip the dinner to have some drinks and meet some guys. Of course, she wasn’t serious. It was just her way of sharing with Olivia that she’s had a, uh, dry spell. “I’m not just POTUS. I am a single female POTUS. Do you know what that means? It means I’m a human chastity belt,” said Mellie. She continued, “Olivia, there is a famine in my lady bits! My vagina is beautiful, she is welcoming, but she is getting treated like a murder house. I can’t get anything in there!”

As Olivia tried to tell Mellie that it was all #TMI, Mellie went on to say, “You know what I need? I need a vibrator. The president needs a vibrator. Can I get one? No. Can I go into a store and buy one? No! I can’t order one online. I don’t have a credit card anymore. … I can’t ask any staffer, really, because, I mean, think of the political tea the Democrats could spill. The headline: ‘Staffer forced to purchase sex toys for President Grant.’ You want to talk about the crown jewel of the American prison system? I can’t even smuggle an orgasm into this place!”

Following Mellie’s vagina monologue, Olivia just couldn’t help but burst out laughing, as she shared with Mellie the first thing that popped into her mind. “I just keep thinking … how would Ken Burns immortalize this moment in your documentary?” Relieved that Olivia didn’t come at her with one of her dramatic monologues, Mellie answered, “Well, I hope that he would use a reenactment.”
