Audible is making it possible to revisit your best childhood reading memories. The audio entertainment company recently announced on Tuesday, April 30, that for the first time ever, The Baby-Sitters Club series by Ann M. Martin will be available to download in audio form on August 13.

That’s right. Soon you’ll be able to listen to the Stoneybrook adventures of BFFs Kristy Thomas, Mary-Anne Spier, Claudia Kishi, Stacey McGill, and Dawn Schafer. According to Audible’s announcement, all 131 titles are dropping on the platform, and Maleficient star Elle Fanning will voice and perform the first five volumes in the best-selling series. The remaining books will be individually read by different actresses, including Brittany Pressley, Erin Moon, Ali Ahn, Emily Bauer, and Bahni Turpin.

"The fierce friendships and babysitting adventures of The Baby-Sitters Club have been so much fun to perform," Fanning said in the statement. "It has been such an exciting and new experience for me to bring this entrepreneurial squad to life as Audible books. People can now relive these coming-of-age stories in a whole new way or enjoy them for the very first time!"

The first novel in the popular series, Kristy’s Great Idea, was released in 1986, and followed the story of five teenage girls who started their own baby-sitting service in the fictional suburban town of Stoneybrook, Connecticut. From 1986 to 2000, Martinwrote a total of 35 books in the vast collection. The rest were penned by ghostwriters, according to Goodreads.

But this isn’t the first time Martin’s beloved stories have been adapted for the modern age. In 1990, HBO launched a series of the same name, but unfortunately, it only lasted one season. Five years later, in 1995, a film adaptation hit the big screen, starring Rachel Leigh Cook (She’s All That), singer and actress Schuyler Fisk (daughter of Sissy Spacek), and Larisa Oleynik of 10 Things I Hate About You.

Not to mention, Netflix shared on Twitter on February 28, 2019 that it will be releasing a live-action, 10-part TV series based on the young adult novels. Broad City’s Lucia Aniello is directing and GLOW writer and producer Rachel Shukert is working on the script.

"I’m thrilled to see that the readership for The Baby-Sitters Club continues to grow after all these years," said Martin. "And I’m grateful and honored to hear from fans-young and old-who have supported the series with such affection, love and nostalgia for all things BSC. I’m excited that Audible will bring the books to life in a new format for the next generation."

Safe to say we know what we'll be listening to on our next family road trip.
