Prefer history over football? Super Museum Sunday in Georgia offers free admission
Football and conversation-starting commercials will be focus of Feb. 11 for many, but before Super Bowl LVIII kicks off, there's another event worth your attention in Georgia: Super Museum Sunday.
Organized by the Georgia History Festival, more than 100 museums and historic sites will offer free admission. This is a great opportunity for families to enrich themselves with the local history, art and culture at an unbeatable price. Whether you're a fan of the Revolutionary War-era or religious studies, there's something for everyone.
Here's a look at the some of the participating sites, the historical categories they fall under, and what they will offer on Super Museum Sunday:
Revolutionary War and Colonial Georgia
Fort Morris in Midway at 2559 Fort Morris Rd. It's open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Fort King George in Darien at 302 McIntosh Rd. Guided tours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and there's a "Fascinating Figures" lecture at 1 p.m.
Wormsloe State Historic Site in Savannah at 7601 Skidaway Rd. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be a Colonial Faire and Muster offering skills and craft demonstrations as well as insight into colonial life.
Fort Frederica on St. Simons Island at 6515 Frederica Rd. It's open noon-4 p.m.

Civil War
Fort McAllister State Park in Richmond Hill at 3894 Fort McAllister Rd. The park is open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and the historic site is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Magnolia Springs State Park in Millen at 1053 Magnolia Springs Rd. The park is open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and the history center is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A.H. Stephens State Park in Crawfordville at 456 Alexander St. It's open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The last tour is at 3:30 p.m.
Pickett's Mill Battlefield in Dallas at 4432 Mount Tabor Church Rd. It's open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Historic Homes
Roosevelt’s Little White House in Warm Springs at 401 Little White House Rd. It's open 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation in Brunswick at 5556 Hwy 17. It's open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are hourly plantations with the last tour at 4 p.m.
Jarrell Plantation in Juliette at 711 Jarrell Plantation Rd. It's open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hardman Farm in Sautee Nacoochee at 143 GA-17. There will be open house noon-3 p.m. where families can enjoy cooking demonstrations on a wood-fired stove in the historic kitchen, explore the grounds and s’mores.

Unique Museums
Dahlonega Gold Museum in Dahlonega at 1 Public Square. It's open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Augusta Jewish Museum in Augusta at 525 Telfair St. It's open noon-4 p.m.
First Girl Scout Headquarters in Savannah at 330 Drayton St. It's open noon-4 p.m.
Blue & Gray Museum in Fitzgerald at 16 S. Johnston St. It's open 1-4 p.m.
