Predator is getting another reboot that will ignore previous movie - and the director isn't happy the news leaked early
The Predator, cinema's other iconic extra-terrestrial baddie, is getting yet another movie reboot from its new franchise overlords at The Walt Disney Company.
Deadline broke the news that the new film will ignore what happened everything that happened in the previous movie, 2018's The Predator, which was directed by Shane Black and expanded on the mythology and Predator motivations, as well as setting up future films quite well. Although it did quite well, it clearly didn't do well enough.
Dan Trachtenberg, who was revealed to be the new reboot's director, responded to the news on Twitter, and while he's glad people are excited... he's less happy about his plans for the big reveal have been scuppered.

"This was meant to be a surprise," he tweeted. "Been working on this for almost 4 years now. I am very sad that what we had in store for how you could discover this movie will no longer happen. It's a bummer. But also...YAY!"
Dan Trachtenberg previously directed 10 Cloverfield Lane, a film that didn't reveal its connection to that franchise until its ending (and wasn't even originally meant to be a Cloverfield film), so we wonder how tight or loose his film will be to the wider series.

Either way, it'll be interesting to see what happens. The 2018 movie was one of highest-grossing movies in the series, but didn't necessarily make enough based on what it cost. According to actor Boyd Holbrook, it underperformed because the public don't care enough beyond the original Arnold Schwarzenegger classic.
