Prank Caller Casually Chats About Prostitutes On Local News

NBC 4 Washington was covering winter storm Jonas when they spoke with a prank caller pretending to be a spokesperson for the Virginia Department of Transportation. The caller did a really good job of talking about prostitutes and drugs with the tone of a mild-mannered civil servant. “I mean, my drug dealer and my prostitute were on the way, and they couldn’t get it delivered,” a person purporting to be state employee Jason Bond said. “I couldn’t believe it.”

Anchors David Culver and Angie Goff seemed to be either distracted or inattentive, because they did not question the caller or what he was saying, and allowed it to continue. “Check the main roads, call your friends, family, use your networks that you know to see if it’s passable,” the prankster said. “If it’s not, don’t take a chance. There’s no reason for it. You know, the prostitutes will be there tomorrow morning. And we can have a good time then.”

Culver and Goff’s colleague tried getting their attention, but it didn’t work. Not only did the caller get a third reference to prostitutes on the air, but the anchors thanked him for it. “I mean, these guys are working, I hate to say it, almost 20 hours,” the caller said when asked how long the DOT employees had been on the roads. “There’s good call girls in the hotel, they should just stay there, you know?”

“OK, thank you so much, Jason Bond, for bringing us up to speed on the conditions out on Virginia roadways and also giving us a lot of good insight and advice,” Goff responded.
