‘Powerless’ Puts a Cute New Twist on Superhero Shows

NBC premiered a superhero show Thursday night that’s unlike all the other superhero shows out there. It’s called Powerless, and it follows a group of employees at Wayne Security, which is run by Bruce Wayne’s cousin, Van Wayne.

Vanessa Hudgens plays Emily Locke, a girl from a small town who just got to Charm City to work for Wayne Security. As the original Bruce Wayne, Adam West, described as the narrator, “Wayne Security brings you products that give the power back to the powerless. Like our revolutionary Joker antivenom.” In a world where superheroes are constantly fighting supervillains, Wayne Security makes products to protect the average person.

The show is funny and has an interesting take on the world of superheroes. Plus, there are some familiar TV faces, including Danny Pudi from Community and Ron Funches from Undateable.

Powerless airs Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. on NBC.
