'Power Rangers' Voice of Lord Zedd, Robert Axelrod, Dead at 70

Robert Axelrod, the voice of Lord Zedd in the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers," has died at the age of 70.

Robert's agent announced his passing on social media:

"It is with a heavy heart that we write that client, Robert "Bob" Axelrod passed away yesterday in Los Angeles at the age of 70. Robert was primarily known as a guitarist in the early 1970's and then transitioned into voice acting into the early 1980's. His voice gave way to the creation of over 150 characters including the legendary Lord Zedd and Finister from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Wizardmon from Digimon. Robert enjoyed meeting his fans and inspiring them to follow their passions. His beautiful and kindred soul will never be forgotten and we take comfort in knowing his memory will live on in all those he inspired, met and knew."

Axelrod also played the voice of Finister.

In his early days, Robert played guitar, and even played a Paul McCartney lookalike on the ’90s sitcom “Family Matters.”

He had roles on “The Bold and Beautiful” as well as “Star Trek: Voyager.”

Many of Lord Zedd fans have taken to Twitter to send their condolences to Roberts family. And several fans of the show have also sent well wishes.

One fan put it perfectly, "Robert was loved by us all. He was very interactive with his fans and there were times he wished me happy birthday or commented when I bought a Lord Zedd figure. He didn’t have to do that. And the characters he brought to life. Memories forever. Rest in Peace my lord"
