‘Power Book IV: Force’ Showrunner Gary Lennon Extends Lionsgate Television Deal

Peabody Award-winning producer, showrunner and writer Gary Lennon has signed a new deal with Lionsgate extending their partnership.

Under the deal, he will continue to work with Lionsgate Television and Starz on development opportunities to expand the Power Universe. Lennon has served as showrunner and executive producer for Season 2 of the Power spinoff series Power Book IV: Force and will return for the third installment of the Chicago-based crime drama currently in production.

Lennon served as executive producer of the mothership Power series for Starz which spawned three spinoffs including Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan and Power Book IV: Force. Force follows Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora), a main character from the OG series. It also stars Isaac Keys, Lili Simmons, Shane Harper and Anthony Fleming, to name a few.

Additionally, he’s partnered with Lionsgate Television on P-Valley and Hightown for Starz, as well as the hit Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. Lennon was previously under an overall deal at Starz.

“Gary has been a major creative force in the Power universe,” Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate Television Group Chair and Chief Creative Officer said in a statement. “We look forward to extending our partnership as we collaborate with Starz to create new and unexpected franchise extensions for Power fans.”

“Lionsgate Television has been the ideal production partner,” Lennon shared. “Their creative team is unmatched, and they have been incredibly supportive as we’ve built and expanded the Power Universe. They are a great home for talent looking to broaden their creative horizons.”

Lennon earned Peabody Awards for his work as a producer on FX’s Justified and Orange is the New Black. He also won two NAACP Image Awards for the original Power series.

Jonathan Kleinman negotiated the deal on behalf of Lionsgate Television.

Lennon is represented by CAA, M88 and attorney Erik Hyman.
