Postponed FBI Season Finale Set to Air in October — Jeremy Sisto Previews the 'Heavy Blow' Jubal Will Be Dealt

FBI‘s Season 4 finale — which was pulled at the last minute in late May, in the wake of the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas — has been rescheduled to air early in Season 5.

Specifically, the episode “Prodigal Son” will now debut on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 8/7c, TVLine has learned.

On May 24 of this year, 19 children and two teachers were killed when a gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. (The 18-year-old suspect was also killed.) Seventeen others were shot during the incident, including two police officers.

“Prodigal Son” was pulled from CBS’ schedule hours before it was to air, due to its premise: “As the team investigates a deadly robbery that garnered a cache of automatic weapons for the killers, they discover one of the perps is a classmate of Jubal’s son, who is reluctant to cooperate with the case.”

TVLine has screened the episode in question, and the decision to pull it at the time was just, given how the Case of the Week involves Jubal’s team working to prevent a mass shooting. But beyond that broad stroke, the episode delivers a compelling exploration of how Jubal, amidst a crisis that may or may not involve his own son, navigates his already-delicate relationship with Tyler. As established on the series, Tyler, who in Season 3 was diagnosed with leukemia, is grappling with highly complex emotions and deep pangs of loneliness — and, he suddenly began using his mother’s maiden name, instead of Valentine, as his own surname.

TVLine invited Jeremy Sisto, who plays Jubal, to answer some questions about “Prodigal Son”; read his emailed responses below.
