What happens when you mix Post Malone, Joe Rogan and psychedelic mushrooms? A nearly four-hour long podcast episode.
The rapper, 25, was a guest on Wednesday's episode of the "Joe Rogan Experience," and the pair talked about a variety of topics, including drugs, UFOs and the the coronavirus pandemic.
Drugs are mentioned in just the first couple of seconds of the episode after Malone admits he's doing the show on no sleep.
"Yeah, haven't slept, we're on mushrooms," Rogan says to laughs. "And uh, let's roll!"
'Mushrooms are a different animal, man'
Rogan went on to explain why he likes marijuana in comparison to mushrooms.
"Weed makes you vulnerable and I think for someone like me, it's a good thing to think that way... It makes me more appreciative, the fear actually makes me more appreciative," he said. "But mushrooms are a different animal, man. They just bring you to this weird place that's like right next door. It's like a hall place to this other place, like you get like a VIP bracelet, you get to go into another room that's right there all the time."
Then Malone chimed in, smiling, "But you can't go in until you get that bracelet."
The rapper also said he's been doing mushroom "micro-doses."
"You don't really catch it until you do like 10 right off the rip, but then I ate these chocolates the other day," he added. "And me and my producers made a Coachella set for about two hours."
Malone has a 'medium' recollection of seeing a UFO
Later in the conversation, Malone shared his experience of seeing a UFO.
"I've seen one... I was probably 16. I was in upstate New York and it would just stay there," the Syracuse-native said.
He continued, "Let me precursor this: My aunt and uncle were very strict, and we had to go to bed at very strict deadline – probably 10 p.m. I was looking out the window with my cousin and it's just a light that just stays there and then just (expletive) goes off... You can't explain it."
When Rogan asked how strong his memory is of the event, Malone replied: "Medium."
Malone added that he's also seen things in other places he's lived, including Utah and California.
"I used to live in Tarzana... It looked kind of like, it sounds corny – but like a classic forcefield... it's kind of like a dome in a circular shape," he explained.
Wear a mask out of respect
Malone also weighed in on the coronavirus pandemic, saying masks are important but shouldn't be mandatory.
"You can get a fine for not wearing a mask and sometimes it's up to $600 (expletive) bucks," he said. "It's like me in school having to tuck in my shirt or else you get detention or whatever. It's weird to be forced to wear something."
He continued, "At the end of the day, it all comes down to respect for other people... It's not a government thing. You shouldn't be forced to wear a mask – but you should. And that's because I respect you as a follow human."
