‘Pose’ Trailer: Ryan Murphy Series Is Strictly Ballroom – Plus Voguing, Glitter and Drama (Video)

You better work to keep up with the first official trailer for Ryan Murphy’s new FX series “Pose.” And the voguing. Oh, the voguing.

Though the dance musical already gave us a taste of what’s to come when it dropped a teaser along with its release date announcement last month, this clip is five times as glamorous. It looks like someone took the first video and dumped a canister of glitter on it and gave it a tiara.

“Focus, children,” Dominique Jackson, one of several trans actors cast in the drama’s eight-episode first season, says in the clip above. “It’s time to remind the world who we are.”

Oh, snap.

Set in the 1980s, “Pose” is a dance musical that explores the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York: the ball culture world, the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe and the downtown social and literary scene, according to FX’s official description.

And what is a ball? “Balls are gatherings of people who are not welcome to gather anywhere else,” M.J. Rodriguez explained. (Can we say we’re already not crying, you’re crying — or is it too soon?)

“Pose” will feature the largest cast of transgender actors in series regular roles in TV history, as well as the largest recurring cast of LGBTQ actors ever for a scripted series. The transgender lineup includes Rodriguez, Jackson, Indya Moore, Hailie Sahar and Angelica Ross, who co-star alongside Evan Peters, Kate Mara, James Van Der Beek, Billy Porter, Charlayne Woodard, and newcomers Ryan Jamaal Swain, Dyllón Burnside and Angel Bismark Curiel.

Murphy, Falchuk, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Alexis Martin Woodall and Sherry Marsh executive produce, with Canals and Silas Howard serve as co-executive producers. Janet Mock, Our Lady J and Erica Kay also serve as producers.
