Oh to have a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS in Germany. Of course, you can stretch its legs on the Autobahn and enjoy a nice spirited rip through the Black Forest, but the car should be on track. German magazine Sport Auto recently subjected the GT4 RS to one of its famous "Supertests," lapping the car on the Nürburging Nordschleife and at Hockenheim—the country's two greatest tracks. Unsurprisingly, it was very impressive.

On the 'Ring, Sport Auto's Christian Gebhardt posted a 7:16.15, or 11.65 seconds slower than Porsche's official time on the same layout. A very strong result and quicker than the 7:17 Gebhardt managed in a 911 Turbo S. At Hockenheim, it was very much the same story—Gebhardt's lap time of 1:47.6 was two tenths better than his in the Turbo S.

The Cayman GT4 RS was wearing an ultra-sticky set of Michelin's Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, while the Turbo S was fit with more road-focused Pirelli P-Zero tires. Still, it's impressive when you consider that the Turbo S has a significant power-to-weight advantage over the GT4 RS, with 5.7 lbs/hp to the Cayman's 6.5 lbs/hp.

What's perhaps more important than lap time is the fact that the GT4 RS seems like a riot on both these tracks. It sounds unbelievable and looks very approachable at the limit, just like all Caymans before it. Oh to be in Germany with a GT4 RS.
