PopWatch Planner: 'Iron Man 3,' 'The Following,' 'The Americans'
Here we are again, season finale time is kicking off. It seems like just yesterday that we were anticipating Revolution, excited for season 2 of Once Upon a Time, and wondering what Lena Dunham would bring us on new episodes of Girls. Oh, the passing of time. Now’s the time to catch up on The Following, Happy Endings, and The Americans (before their season finales this week)! Here’s how else to fill your pop culture desires this week:
MONDAY
The Following, 9 p.m., Fox
Bones and The Following air season finale episodes tonight. The Following sees a big showdown between Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) and killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy). Showrunner Kevin Williamson teased to the magazine, ”People live, people die. It’s scary and emotional.”
TUESDAY
New Girl, 9 p.m., Fox
In this episode, the gang each shares the story of how each lost his or her virginity. So, yeah, there’s absolutely no way this is going to be awkward.
WEDNESDAY
The Americans, 10 p.m., FX
The Americans finishes off its first season with a nail-biter of an episode. Wigs Galore!
THURDSAY
Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous, 10:30, MTV
If you’ve ever spent the time you should have been studying (or working) searching YouTube, you’ve probably come across a Bo Burnham video. His hilarious parody songs are so catchy they get stuck in your head, but don’t be fooled, they’re all pretty offensive (we mean that in the best possible way). In his new show he plays a wannabe reality TV star who lives at home with his parents. Bo Burnham is extremely self-aware, so we know he’s going to fully embrace the awkwardness of reality TV.
FRIDAY
Iron Man 3 opens in theaters, but also please watch Happy Endings (8:00 p.m., ABC)
Look, we all want to know if Iron Man 3 will be as good as the first or as disappointing as the second. I understand that. So go to a midnight screening. Or leave your TV tuned in to Happy Endings when you head out for the movies. Come on, this show needs your help.
SATURDAY
Saturday Night Live, 11:30, NBC
Zach Galifianakis brought some great material last time he was on the show! We’re sure his return won’t disappoint. Also, we really want to know how things worked out with his new assistant.
SUNDAY
Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham
Some people consider watching Mad Men to be equivalent to reading a book, but a nice real book is good once in a while too. Of course, this one is by a celebrity, so it could go either way. However, Lauren Graham is a total genius so we’re assuming this novel, about an actress trying to make it big in the mid-’90s, will be hilarious and heartwarming.
