An area of northeast Springfield that has been ripe for development in recent years has attracted another national brand.

According to city of Springfield building permits, it appears Taco Bell is building a new location on North Eastgate Avenue in front of the Menards. Work is underway on the project.

Taco Bell currently has 11 other restaurants throughout Springfield.

This area off Chestnut Expressway and east of Highway 65 has seen a lot of growth lately. Menards opened there in 2018, and since then it has been joined by Costco across the street and Jiffy Lube next door. Construction is also underway on a Mister Car Wash in the area.

The News-Leader reached out to Taco Bell to ask when the new location will open but did not hear back by press time.

Taco Bell is known for its affordable Mexican-inspired food with bold flavors. It has more than 7,000 restaurants and claims to serve more than 40 million customers each week in the U.S. and internationally.
