On our latest show, we welcome rising star Daya, who stops by to talk about her breakthrough year and her upcoming debut full-length album, Sit Still, Look Pretty and more. She says the album — which is due out on Oct. 7 — has an “electro pop” vibe and she says, “I really love all the songs on it so I hope that people do, too.” (Listen to a preview of the album at the bottom of this page, along with a selection of tunes she likes, was inspired by and currently enjoys!)

Daya arrived on the charts almost a year ago with the single “Hide Away,” which Billboard tipped as a track to watch back in July of 2015. “Hide Away” debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 three months later and peaked at No. 23 the following March. Since then, she’s scored two further top 40 hits, including her smash collaboration with The Chainsmokers, “Don’t Let Me Down,” which peaked at No. 3, and her new single, “Sit Still, Look Pretty,” which climbs 29-28 on the Sept. 17-dated Hot 100.

Daya also chats about how performing at the White House was a “milestone” achievement for her in the past year, how she got her start in music, finishing her senior year in high school (she says she felt like Hannah Montana) and talks about her new music video for “Sit Still, Look Pretty” (which premieres on Sept. 9).
