Pop has been looking to build up its original scripted series roster with an emphasis on comedy, capitalizing on the success of its signature show, the popular and praised comedy Schitt’s Creek, which is currently airing its fifth season on the cable network. Next for Pop is the February premiere of its latest scripted series, hourlong dramedy Flack staring Anna Paquin. The PR-themed series will be showcased with a panel during CBS’ portion of Winter TCA this week. (Pop is jointly owned by CBS Corp. and Lionsgate.)

Written by Herz and to be directed by Steve Pink (Hot Tub Time Machine), Best Intentions revolves around a teenager, his awkward single father who is the guidance counselor at his high school, and the all-too-smart women of their fumbling affections. Like his work on the American Pie franchise where Herz wrote the original breakout movie and wrote/co-wrote two of the sequels, Best Intentions features a mix of lovable characters, outrageous comedic set pieces and heart. Herz executive produces with Barry Jossen of A+E Studios, and Owens and Silverman of Propagate, which is backed by A+E Networks. Jay Weisleder of Propagate serves as co-executive producer.

In Ride Or Die, written by McConkey, when an elite spin studio is rocked by a strange murder, a down-on-her-luck outsider teams up with a true-crime buff to find the killer. The pilot is produced by The Gotham Group, as well as Nomadic Pictures.
