Polo G Says He Uses Drugs And Alcohol To Cope With Emotional Pain

Polo G has admitted that his abuse of drugs and alcohol is a mechanism to help him cope with pain and emotional distress.

On Wednesday (April 18), the hitmaker made the unprompted revelation in a post to his followers on social media. “Drugs and liquor help me cope w pain,” Polo G wrote on X, formerly Twitter, prompting a number of his fans to respond with words encouraging the rapper to get clean and remain sober.

However, he did acknowledge his awareness that he needs “better vices” moving forward, leading one X user to respond by noting they were under the impression that Polo G had already kicked his drug habit, as previously stated by the rapper himself.

The “Pop Out” creator held no punches in his retort, admitting to having since relapsed and resumed his drug use. “Mf I stopped and started again,” Polo wrote in his reply. Another fan screenshotted lyrics from Polo G’s song “21,” in which he recalled consuming what he claimed was his “last” Percocet pill with late rapper Juice WRLD prior to his death.

Yet, the Chicago native shot down any assertions that he was abusing the prescription drug, adding that he hasn’t taken Percocet in an attempt to stay true to his vow to the deceased rapper, who passed away in 2019 from an overdose.

“Still to this day I haven’t popped a perc for respect [for] my brotha but it’s a lot of other drugs out [here] gang,” Polo clarified, declining to further expound on his current drug of choice.

The past few years of Polo G’s life have come with their share of tumult, as various legal issues have plagued the rap star amid his streak of success. Most recently, Polo, born Taurus Bartlett, was arrested in New York City and charged with weapons possession after a housekeeper at the hotel he was staying in discovered a firearm in his room.

“On Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at approximately 1209 hours, police responded to a 911 call for found property at 246 Spring Street,” the NYPD spokesperson said via email. “Upon arrival, it was reported to officers that there is a firearm at the location. An individual was placed into custody at the location without incident.”

Polo G was later released after posting a $25,000 bail following an arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court, Rolling Stone reports.
