Police and Trump Supporters Clash Outside Capitol

Footage shot from the steps of the US Capitol shows clashes between police and Trump supporters on January 6, as officers attempted to protect the building where Congress was meeting to affirm the victory of Joe Biden in the US presidential election.

Footage captured by Edward Walsh shows police clashing with protesters.

Another video posted earlier in the day shows police officers spraying protesters.

Trump supporters eventually filled the interior of the Capitol, and Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt was fatally shot by police.

Three others, named by DC Police as Rosanne Boyland, Kevin Greeson, and Benjamin Phillips, died in what were described as medical emergencies.

Police said 68 people were arrested and that officers recovered six firearms and two pipe bombs. Credit: Edward Walsh via Storyful
