Kelly Oubre Jr.’s hit-and-run car accident is still under investigation.

On Thursday, PEOPLE confirmed that the Philadelphia Police Department is still looking into the Nov. 11 incident in Center City involving the 27-year-old and reviewing available video footage.

Conflicting reports circulated Wednesday stating that there was “no evidence” to support that the Philadelphia 76ers athlete was involved in a collision with another driver resulting in him being hospitalized.

A spokesman for the department disputed those claims, stating there was simply “no video” at this time. They added that the Crash Investigation Division is still looking into the matter.

According to the NBA’s official website, Oubre was walking when a car moving at a “high rate of speed” hit him and then fled the scene around 7 p.m. EST on Nov. 11. Medics arrived and took him to the hospital, where he was treated for a broken rib before being sent home to recover.

In an email to the Associated Press, police said Oubre was crossing an intersection near his home when he was struck “in the upper chest area with the driver-side mirror" by a silver vehicle.

A representative for the shooting guard told PEOPLE in a statement: “We appreciate the diligent efforts of the Philadelphia Police Department in their investigation of the hit-and-run accident. Mr. Oubre recently relocated to the area and after experiencing a significant traumatic event, was only sure that he was en route back to his residence when the incident occurred.”

The statement continued, “Mr. Oubre is fully cooperating with the authorities and is eager for the individual responsible for the hit-and-run to be appropriately held accountable. He encourages anyone with information to please contact the Philadelphia police.”

During a press conference Wednesday, the team’s head coach Nick Nurse addressed the conflicting reports and reaffirmed his support for the shooting guard as he continues to recover.

“I’m gonna believe Kelly at his word,” Nurse said when asked by reporters about the lack of video evidence so far.

He said he’s going to “handle things as they come” in relation to the incident.

As for Oubre’s recovery, Nurse said, “I went to see him yesterday, he’s in good spirits. He worked out again today on the bicycle so we’re just trying to get him back on the court as soon as we can.”

In light of the conflicting reports, one reporter asked the team’s head coach whether or not Oubre had explained to the team in detail what happened to him on Monday, to which Nurse affirmed, “As far as I’m aware, yes.”
