A man and a woman were booked early Saturday into the Shawnee County Jail in connection with a gunshot homicide committed Friday at a Topeka motel.

Jahlel Brundidge, 18, of Topeka, was fatally shot at the Travelers Inn, 3846 S.W. Topeka Blvd.

Taken into custody were Andrew Quinton Jr., 39, and Cassie K. Holden, 31, both of Topeka, said Topeka police Lt. Ronnie Connell.

Topeka police officers were called shortly after 3 p.m. to the scene, he said.

Quinton and Holden were subsequently arrested in connection with first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and the criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Connell said.

Quinton was booked at 3:50 a.m. Saturday and Holden at  4:15 a.m. Saturday into the jail, where both were being held Saturday morning without bond.

Formal charges hadn't been filed.

Friday's homicide was the second committed in less than a year at the Travelers Inn.

James Norman Epps, 37, was fatally shot in Room 232 there on Aug. 24, 2021, said Shawnee County District Attorney Mike Kagay in a news release.

Isaiah Krainbill, 20, is set to be tried beginning Jan. 2 on a charge of second-degree murder in the killing of Epps, according to Shawnee County District Court records.
