Polaris Prize 2020 Long List Announced: The Weeknd, U.S. Girls, Caribou, Lido Pimienta, and More

The 2020 Polaris Music Prize Long List has been announced. The annual award celebrates the best Canadian album, this year featuring records released between June 1, 2019 and May 31, 2020. Among the 40 artists on the 2020 Long List are: The Weeknd, U.S. Girls, Caribou, Lido Pimienta, Jessie Reyez, Andy Shauf, KAYTRANADA, dvsn, Leif Vollebek, Jacques Greene, Daniel Caesar, Cindy Lee, Men I Trust, and Allie X. Ten albums will make the 2020 Polaris Music Prize Short List. The Short List will be announced on July 15.

In addition to prestige, the top honor comes with a $50,000 CAD award. Last year’s Polaris Prize went to rapper Haviah Mighty, who won for her album 13th Floor. Other winners in recent years have included Jeremy Dutcher, Lido Pimienta, and KAYTRANADA.
