A sequel to 2004’s The Polar Express is currently being “worked out,” says producer Gary Goetzman.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Goetzman, who served as a producer on 2004’s The Polar Express, revealed that there have been talks about making The Polar Express 2.

Goetzman also expressed interest in making a sequel to 2009’s Where The Wild Things Are and a third Mamma Mia movie, though none of these projects have been officially greenlit at this time.

“Listen, I’d love to,” Goetzman said about The Polar Express 2. “I’d love to do a sequel of Where The Wild Things Are. There’s a lot of the things that we’ve done, if it established itself, branded itself, those movies, studios want another one. That’s the way it goes. I’m up for Mamma Mia 3, man. That would be a ball to do right about now. But it becomes, there’s so much involved with, ‘Who’s artistic property would that be? Would that be?’ It’s just not like, ‘Hey, let’s go do another free sailing! So, they all take time and that’s okay because we don’t mind things going slowly. But that is trying to be worked out now, for sure, Polar 2. Yes.”

We think of The Polar Express when Christmas comes to town

Directed by Robert Zemeckis, The Polar Express, which is based on Chris Van Allsburg’s 1985 children’s book of the same name, is an animated movie that utilized motion capture to animate live-action performances.

The movie’s voice cast includes Tom Hanks (in a number of different roles), Nona Gaye, Peter Scolari, and Eddie Deezen.

“Tom Hanks and director Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump; Cast Away) reunite for Polar Express, an inspiring adventure based on the beloved children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg,” the synopsis reads. “When a doubting young boy takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.”
