Sanford Bookstaver and Rena Sofer

On what would've been their 21st wedding anniversary had they not gotten divorced seven years ago, General Hospital star Rena Sofer and Sanford Bookstaver had a new reason to celebrate: their second wedding!

The former couple got remarried after a divorce and years apart, sharing snaps from the special day as Bookstaver declared, "I remarried my best friend and soulmate again!"

"This Saturday would have been our 21st Wedding Anniversary. We were divorced for a few years, spent time apart working on ourselves, and then came back together stronger than ever," wrote the director in the Instagram caption. "Life with you has never been better, and I’m the luckiest man alive to get to spend the rest of my life with you @rena.sofer."

Sofer wrote a message as well, saying to her husband, "The love I have for you now is the foundation of my life. I can’t imagine another moment NOT walking through life with you hand in hand and our hearts entwined."

She sweetly added at the end, "It’s not 'oops we did it again' but I’m so grateful we did it again!❤️❤️❤️."

In the photos, Bookstaver wore a classic suit and tie, while his wife had on a white suit and necklace with the letter "R" on it.

The comments were quickly flooded with congratulations from friends and fans, as one person wrote, "This is such a beautiful love story!!!"

"Congratulations lovebirds👏👏🥂🥂," said someone else, as actor Reno Wilson chimed in, "Yeah I love it. What’s meant to be is meant to be. Love you two. ❤️❤️❤️❤️."

Many more actors popped in to say something similar, including Denise Richards, Krysten Ritter, Hilarie Burton and Sasha Alexander. Katrina Bowden added, "Congrats you two ❤️ you are perfect for eachother [sic]."

Sofer, who is well-known for her roles on popular soap operas General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful, originally tied the knot with Bookstaver, a director and producer who worked on shows like Chicago Fire and Dexter: New Blood, in 2003. They welcomed a daughter named Avalon soon after.

Although they divorced in 2017, they reconnected after a few years and announced their engagement in 2019. Sofer and Bookstaver finally walked down the aisle again in 2024.
