'Please Like Me': Behind the Scenes of the Season 3 Finale Christmas Episode

Like all family holiday meals, the one we’ll see on Please Like Me’s Christmas episode Friday night is going to be awkward, hilarious, and, just maybe, a bit heartbreaking.

The Aussie imports closes out its third season on Pivot with a one-hour season finale. In the first episode, “Champagne,” Josh’s one-night stand with Ben has repercussions (as does Tom and Claire’s kiss) when the gang has nothing to do but talk while in the cabin of an observation wheel. The second half-hour, “Trifle,” finds Josh hosting a Christmas day lunch for his mum, dad, Mae, and Hannah… and Tom, Ella, Claire, and Arnold. As you can see in the exclusive clip above, it doesn’t get off to a good start when Arnold drops the gravy. The tension rises when baby Grace, who’s supposed to be napping in another room, begins to cry and everyone seems to have a different idea about how to handle it.

What is pure comedy, however, is the behind-the-scenes featurette below. The cast shares holiday memories: what gets a person kicked in the balls at creator/star Josh Thomas’s house, what awful gifts they’ve received, and, best of all, the NSFW story of how Keegan Joyce (Arnold), who learned the truth about Santa Claus at age nine, decided to help his parents with the “setup” to fool his two younger brothers. “I was like, ‘Well, if Santa’s waiting here, surely the reindeer would poo…” We’ve never seen Thomas laugh that hard.

The one-hour Please Like Me Season 3 finale airs Dec. 11 at 10 p.m. on Pivot.
