Platform Beer Co. shuts down Cleveland taproom

The Platform Beer Co. is closing its Cleveland taproom and production center and will discontinue production of some of its beer, according to a report from Cleveland Scene.

The company released this statement:

“As we navigate through the changing industry and operational challenges, it has become clear that Platform’s production and commercial efforts need to be focused on three beers: Haze Jude IPA, Odd Future Imperial IPA, and our new Canalway IPA. We are grateful to be part of the Ohio beer community and look forward to continuing to provide local beer drinkers with the IPAs they’ve come to love.”

Platform was founded in 2014 and once operated a coffee shop and tasting room concept, called Locoba, in Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. Platform's website says Locoba is temporarily closed.

Platform's beers are also available in local grocery, convenience and liquor stores.

Anheuser-Busch acquired Platform in 2019, hoping to broaden its craft beer category, according to a release at the time of the sale.
