The pilot of a small plane suffered nonlife-threatening injuries after his plane flipped over on landing late Thursday afternoon in Medina County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, which is investigating the incident.

The crash took place about 5:40 p.m. at Weltzien Skypark in Guilford Township between Wadsworth and Seville. The facility, located at 3071 Greenwich Road, is a privately run airport that is open to the public, according to its website.

The pilot, identified as Jeffrey Parker of Aurora, had to be extricated from the plane.

Parker was treated on scene by emergency medical personnel and then taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General, according to the patrol. Parker was the only occupant of the aircraft, a Cessna 152.

The highway patrol said Parker was landing the Cessna when it went off the left side of the runway into grass. It then skidded and overturned on its roof.

The Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating the crash, the highway patrol said.
