All the places to spot Stan Lee in Oscar-winning 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' (exclusive)

Marvel Comics icon Stan Lee spent his legendary career fighting for superheroes to be taken seriously by Hollywood. His efforts resulted in a breakthrough year for comic book cinema as Black Panther became the first movie of its kind to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, along with five other nods, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse led the race for the Best Animated Feature statue.

Lee — who died in December — sadly didn’t live to see Oscar night, when Black Panther won two historic Oscars and the universally beloved Spider-Verse defeated Incredibles 2 and Ralph Breaks the Internet for the top animated prize. Nevertheless, his presence is very much felt in the movie, specifically in a touching cameo appearance where he passes the mantle of Spider-Man to young Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore).

But that’s not Lee’s only cameo. As this exclusive bonus features clips from the upcoming Spider-Verse home release shows, Spider-Man’s creator is all over the Spider-Verse. “He has, like, 20 cameos,” says the movie’s producer Chris Miller, as he and the rest of the creative team proceed to point out more of the places where fans can spot Lee’s cartoon face.

For example, that’s him crossing the sidewalk where Miles and Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) have fallen to the pavement after a while web-slinging ride. He’s also glimpsed riding the subway when Miles takes his first solo spin in his personalized Spidey suit. “This guy’s everywhere,” Miller says, laughing. We wouldn’t have it any other way, true believers.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will be available on iTunes and other digital services on Feb. 26, and then hits 4K, Blu-ray and DVD on March 19. Visit Amazon and Walmart to pre-order.
