Pittsburgh's Heinz History Center nominated as 'Best History Museum' by USA Today
PITTSBURGH ― For the second consecutive year, the Sen. John Heinz History Center has been nominated as the Best History Museum in America by USA Today.
You can vote for the Smithsonian-affiliated museum, on Smallman Street in Pittsburgh's Strip District, by visiting the 10Best Readers' Choice Awards at 10best.usatoday.com. Votes can be cast once per day (per device) now through noon, Feb. 12.
As of noon Monday, the Heinz History Center had logged the most votes of the 21 history museums nominated by USA Today’s panel of industry experts and editors.
The voting site mentions "The Heinz History Center preserves the history of Western Pennsylvanians and helps educate visitors with interactive exhibits spread across six floors. A highlight is the 'Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood' exhibit, which houses artifacts from the popular children's show that was filmed in Pittsburgh. You'll get to see the welcoming living room set, The Great Oak Tree, King Friday XIII’s Castle, and plenty of other notable items."
The Children's Museum of Pittsburgh also is nominated for best children's museum in a similar USA Today poll. The Andy Warhol Museum on Pittsburgh's North Side is nominated for best U.S. art museum.
