National insurance brokerage firm offers assistance with mounting debt
Alera Group Pittsburgh, an affiliate of Alera Group, Inc. ("Alera") today announced their alleviation of $1.3M of local healthcare debt. This gift is part of more than $18 million in healthcare debt being relieved by Alera Group employees for struggling households across the country.
Alera employees worked directly with the debt-forgiveness nonprofit, RIP Medical Debt, to identify individuals and families with outstanding healthcare-related bills in the markets they serve across the country. As a result, thousands of Americans will now receive letters of forgiveness to alert them of the gift from Alera Group employees. These letters have been delivered throughout the winter and spring targeting individuals and families living below 200% of the poverty level. Letters will continue to reach recipients over the next few months.
"As the impacts of the pandemic are still looming, I am honored to be part of a team that wants to give back directly to the community in which we live, work and play. A passion for collaboration is one of our core values and it is that culture which drives our company. We aim for our service to span beyond the clients we work with directly. This gift to our local communities comes straight from the heart of our team," said Kevin Sweeney, a partner of Alera Group Pittsburgh. "The value of collaboration is something that truly has power behind it and working together has allowed our contributions to multiply. We believe this brings hope to many in our community in a way that we are very proud of, we truly are stronger together."
