Over the weekend, Kate Middleton’s sister Pippa Middleton was seen at the lavish wedding of Belle Porter and Max Robinson in Lake Como, Italy. She arrived in a headline-making style of a red ruffled Phase Eight dress, along with an accessory that has people speculating that she’s showing support for her father-in-law amid the ongoing rape investigation.

On Sept 2, Pippa wore a clutch with the words “Eden Rock” embellished on it, and for those who don’t know, that is the name of her father-in-law David Matthews’ Caribbean hotel. Many people and outlets like DailyMail have speculated that this shows her subtle support for him amid an ongoing investigation.

Matthews is currently under investigation and has been for quite some time, by the French police for the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl. Matthews was arrested in 2018 over allegations he raped a 16-year-old girl twice in 1998 and 1999. The allegations go that he attacked her in Paris and at the Eden Rock Hotel. He is still under investigation by the Brigade for the Protection of Minors.

Matthews has continued to deny these allegations.

He was held for 48 hours, appeared at the Palais de Justice, and was charged with the “rape of a minor by a person with authority over his victim.” This could land him up to 15 years in jail, and the case is still ongoing.

Pippa and her husband James Matthews married in 2017, and later welcomed three children together.
