JONESVILLE — The Sauk, Hillsdale County’s community theatre, will present a theatrical adaptation of “Pinocchio” this weekend and next that's perfect for the whole family.

“The play is a 40-minute adaptation of the story,” said Sauk Executive Director Trinity Bird. “It is the perfect play for the young and the young-at-heart. The play is great for those who love theatre and a perfect introduction for young people who may have never been” to a play.

In the classic tale, one lonely night the Blue Fairy grants Geppetto's wish and brings his wooden puppet to life. So begins Pinocchio's journey … Pinocchio tangles with tricksters, Fox and Cat, and Lampwick and his no-good buddies in the Land of Toys. Will he ever prove that he is good enough to become a Real Boy?

The Sauk cast features Parke Falke as Pinocchio, Sadie Falke as Hickory Cricket, Jacob Gray as Lorenzo, Harper Sherman as Alberto, Elizabeth Sumnar as Macaroni and Annabelle Gray as Pepperoni. Mari Nuñez is director, and Sarah Gray is stage manager. Nuñez and Gray performed the same roles for the last year of Sauk summer family shows: “How to Eat Fried Worms” and “Stuart Little.” The production team also includes Ellie Gray and Lilly Macie (co-light design); Ron Boyle, Diane Langan and John Ciaravino (set building); Jeff Gray (set painting); Jason Macie (light crew); and Bird (sound board).
