P!nk tells 'keyboard warriors' to unfollow her over Nathan Phillips defense

P!nk has a few words for the “keyboard warriors” and “anonymous tough guys” trashing her on social media.

A few days after posting about the viral brouhaha between Native American elder Nathan Phillips and the Covington Catholic High School students, calling the incident “appalling and beyond disrespectful,” the singer addressed some of the hateful comments she’s been receiving over the post.

Along with a pink-tressed throwback, she wrote, “I am the same girl I’ve always been. I have always admitted when I am wrong. I have apologized many times. I’m a big believer in apologies, when you’re wrong. I was raised by a Vietnam Veteran who taught me to stand up for what I believe to be right. Even if that means standing alone.”

Throw up Thursday. I am the same girl I’ve always been. I have always admitted when I am wrong. I have apologized many times. I’m a big believer in apologies, when you’re wrong. I was raised by a Vietnam Veteran who taught me to stand up for what I believe to be right. Even if that means standing alone. I do not now, nor have I ever apologized for some of my very polarizing opinions. If you are surprised by this, or offended, you have every right to unfollow me, as you really don’t know who I am. I am mostly peace and love, with a little bit of go f*ck yourself. So when you keyboard warriors (anonymous toughguys) threaten me? that middle finger is pointed at you. Again: the unfollow button is (I think) top right of your screen. It lets you unfollow people you find make you uncomfortable. It’s great. It really works. This country is broken right now in a lot of ways. It makes me very angry and sad. We all remind me of my parents right before their divorce when they could no longer even speak to each other with anything less than hatred and vitriol. It’s tragic. And we’re all to blame. There are many beautiful people in the world and in this country who want equality for all. Justice. For people to be paid for their work. For their leaders to communicate in productive ways. For children to have respect for others, for veterans to be honored and treated with respect. These are the ideals my father raised me with. And you all cannot talk me out of it. No matter what vile things you say about me and my husband and my children. Onwards and upwards. Keep fighting the good fight.

That said, “I do not now, nor have I ever apologized for some of my very polarizing opinions. If you are surprised by this, or offended, you have every right to unfollow me, as you really don’t know who I am. I am mostly peace and love, with a little bit of go f*** yourself. So when you keyboard warriors (anonymous tough guys) threaten me? that middle finger is pointed at you,” she said, referring to another post she put up in the wake of the Covington drama.

“Again: the unfollow button is (I think) top right of your screen,” she continued. “It lets you unfollow people you find make you uncomfortable. It’s great. It really works.”

In between posts, she shared this, letting her sweater do the talking:

Then she reiterated her stance on the standoff in Washington, D.C. — and the climate in D.C. with Donald Trump in office.

“This country is broken right now in a lot of ways,” she wrote. “It makes me very angry and sad. No matter what vile things you say about me and my husband and my children. Onwards and upwards. Keep fighting the good fight.”

P!nk’s post that started the drama:

Over the last two days, we’ve seen, first, Covington student Nicholas Sandmann be interviewed about the controversy followed by Phillips on the Today show. While many thought Savannah Guthrie went easy on the student, who didn’t apologize, they thought she was unfair to Phillips in grilling him about his military service and whether, during his time in the Marines, he was in combat in Vietnam. Phillips said that he wasn’t: “What I’ve always said is that I’ve never stepped foot in South Vietnam,” he explained. “I don’t know how much clearer that can be.” (Per VA guidelines, he would still be considered a Vietnam era vet.)

P!nk has received support for her post from her husband, Carey Hart, as well as famous folks like Ruby Rose, Zachary Levi and Brandi Carlile.
