Piers Morgan has said Sam Smith "needs to shut up" after the singer said they wanted to be a "fisher-them".
Stay With Me singer Smith - who shared in 2019 that they are non-binary and use they/them pronouns - used the term during an interview on The One Show, after saying how much they liked fishing.
“You're a big fan of fishing?” host Ronan Keating asked.

Smith, 30, replied: "I do love fishing, yes I do.
"I'd love to be a fisher-them."
The star was then asked if they would like to be a fly fisherman, and said they would like to be "any type of fisher-them".
"One day I would just like to end my days fishing," Smith added.

But it seems that Morgan, 57, was unimpressed.
Tweeting a clip from the interview, he posted: "Sam Smith needs to shut up."
It isn't the first time that Morgan has taken aim at Smith of late.
Last week the outspoken broadcaster made it clear what he thought of the eye-catching outfit that the singer wore to the BRITs.
The outfit was jet black and featured huge balloon-like arms and legs, and captured a lot of attention at the music awards show.
Tweeting an image of Smith on the red carpet, Morgan wrote: "Methinks ‘they’ is getting a teeny weeny bit over-thirsty for attention."
However, lots of people took issue with Morgan's remark.
"It’s just pop @piersmorgan - it’s supposed to be fun, stupid and outrageous," said one person.

Another pointed out that it was not at all unusual for pop stars to dress "extravagantly".
