Pierce Brosnan has been cited in Wyoming after allegedly entering protected thermal areas of Yellowstone National Park, per a court document obtained by PEOPLE.

According to a criminal docket filed in the U.S. District Court in Wyoming on Tuesday, the James Bond actor received citations for traveling by foot “in all thermal areas and w/in Yellowstone Canyon confined to trails" and “violating closures and use limits” on Nov. 1. Both citations are listed as petty offenses.

A lawyer and representative for Brosnan did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for additional information on Wednesday.

The thermal areas within the park include five types of hydrothermal features, including hot springs, geysers, mudpots, travertine terraces and fumaroles, per Yellowstone National Park’s official site.

Park visitors are advised a series of rules around the thermal areas, including: “Do not travel through thermal areas after dark; Stock are not permitted in thermal areas; Altering or putting objects in thermal features is prohibited; and swimming, soaking or bathing in water that are entirely of thermal origin is prohibited.”

The park warns that the ground below the thermal areas “may be only a thin crust above boiling hot springs,” and there is no confirmation whether or not the area is safe.

Additionally, parkgoers must stay in the park’s established walking pathways because the “pools are acidic enough to burn through boots."

Along with avoiding the thermal areas, park services advise that visitors need “to be cognitive of their surroundings and responsible for children that are touring the geyser basins.”
