Kate Winslet was just 22 years old (and didn't have a very good sense of style) when the much-anticipated "Titanic" was released at the end of 1997, catapulting the British beauty – who played the lead role of Rose in the film – to fame here in the U.S. and landing her an Oscar nomination. Tragedy struck just as the soon-to-be blockbuster opened when actor Stephen Tedre, whom Winslet had dated for several years, died of cancer. Though the couple had broken up two years prior, they had remained close, prompting Winslet to skip the premiere of "Titanic" in order to attend his funeral.
