Cameos, cameos, cameos While J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit" is set in the same world as "The Lord of the Rings" novels, it actually takes place decades before the events of the War of the Ring. Thankfully many denizens in Middle-earth are either immortal or extremely long-lived individuals, meaning that despite the difference in eras, there still exists the possiblity of cameo appearances by many "Lord of the Rings" characters in "The Hobbit" films. You've likely already seen Hugo Weaving's Elrond and Cate Blanchett's Galadriel in the trailers, but other clips and behind the scenes materials have revealed that Elijah Wood's Frodo Baggins, Orlando Bloom's Legolas, and even Christopher Lee's Saruman (who died in "The Lord of the Rings") will be making an appearance in "The Hobbit" movies.
Five things you likely didn't know about 'The Hobbit'
