The Future's So Bright While there currently aren't concrete plans to shoot a sequel, with all the money this film is already making, it seems like a pretty safe bet a sequel will be announced shortly. The pieces are certainly in place. Joss Whedon has an option to write and direct a sequel. And many of the major players have inked multi-picture deals. For example, Jackson signed on to do nine Marvel films all told. And though Feige has thus far denied any plans to do another standalone Hulk movie, Mark Ruffalo, who dons a superhero costume for the first time in "The Avengers," recently signed on for six more pictures. What we do know concretely at this point is that "Iron Man 3" is set to begin shooting in the next couple of weeks and is slated to be released one year from now; "Thor 2" begins shooting in London in a few months and is scheduled for a November 2012 opening; and "Captain America 2" is due out in April of 2014.
