For some, dreadlocks, braids and cornrows never really go out of style. But when it comes to actors who have worn these hairdos in film, the 'do is usually done to serve as a visual cue about the character they are playing.
Bradley Cooper sports the style in the action-packed comedy "Hit & Run," in theaters now. He portrays a bank robber who has done time -- and can't stop holding it over his partner-in-crime's head (Dax Shepard). The dreads were Cooper's idea, Shepard says: "He knows some guy in Venice [California]. Up until recently he lived in Venice for a long time. There’s a very eclectic cast of characters parading around Venice and this one guy in particular that he knows. Bradley said, 'There's this dude I know and he wears these glasses and these track suits and he has dreads. I think this is who he is.'"
