Grad student by day, kick-butt superspy on her days off: It was a fantastic concept in the hands of star Jennifer Garner, who made Sydney Bristow a vulnerable character we invested in despite the fact she could kill a person at least 87 different ways. And kudos, of course, to the show's creative team, who plotted some of the best action scenes in TV drama history, and to series creator J.J. Abrams, who, in a reference to his other drama, "Felicity," recognized the potential of answering the question, "What would happen if Felicity were to become a spy?"
