The White House has been America's trick-or-treating headquarters for decades, with local kids stopping by the iconic spot to visit with presidents and first ladies, scoring candy and surprises along the way.

Meanwhile, the president got down on kids' levels to once again pass out candy. The children who visited the White House this year were local public school students and military-connected children.

The year's decorations included scenes from classic books such as Alice in Wonderland along with some more personal nods, including an oversized illustration of first dog Commander and first cat Willow.
