Phoenix’s “Lisztomania” Sees Huge Streaming Increase After Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Video

Earlier this month, an old clip of Ocasio-Cortez dancing to the 2009 single circulated

Phoenix’s 2009 song “Lisztomania” has received a 192 percent increase in on-demand streams in the U.S. this week, Billboard reports. According to Nielsen Music, the track jumped from 1.07 million streams in the frame ending January 3 to 3.13 million in the week ending January 10. The spike in streams follows the recently circulated video of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez dancing to “Lisztomania” in 2010. The clip was anonymously shared in an attempt to smear the newly-elected Democratic Representative.

Earlier this month, Phoenix showed their support of Ocasio-Cortez by sharing the video. “Congratulations on being the youngest woman ever being elected to Congress,” they tweeted. “Lisztomania” appears on the band’s Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.
