“Bridgerton” and “Fair Play” actor Phoebe Dynevor lamented in an interview with the London Evening Standard about the limited roles available to women her age. Dynevor, who is 28 years old, said great parts are out there for “male actors” and “for older women,” but not so much for female actors her age.

“I have read some great scripts recently. I probably shouldn’t be saying this, but there is still, like, not that many parts going,” Dynevor said. “There is such a space for male actors … There are so many of them. And they’re all great. They’re all very talented young men. and they do not stop working. And good for them.”

“But you know, when I think about the girls my age … there’s way more room for [male actors] and there is still not enough room for us,” she continued. “It’s a really good time for older women which is amazing and there’s a lot for these young men, but not a lot for the actresses that I know in my age bracket.”

Dynevor eventually told the London Evening Standard that she wants to start producing movies.

“I would like to create the material that I feel is missing,” she said. “I don’t know when that will be, but it’s a dream of mine.”

After breaking out in the first season of “Bridgerton,” Dynevor went on to receive universal acclaim for her role in the Sundance sensation “Fair Play,” which Netflix acquired out of the festival and debuted on its streamer last fall. Her upcoming film roles include “The Inheritance” and “Anniversary,” the latter of which is a thriller co-starring Diane Lane and Kyle Chandler. She also auditioned last year to play Lois Lane in James Gunn’s “Superman: Legacy,” but the role went to Rachel Brosnahan instead.

“It was a whirlwind and then I realized that it was over, but it was great,” Dynevor told Variety, explaining that Lois Lane is the type of role she wants to play. “She saves Superman. She’s the brains; she’s actually the fearless one.”

Dynevor will not return for the upcoming third season of “Bridgerton,” which is launching this summer on Netflix.
