Phantom Planet have shared another new single. It’s called “Party Animal” and marks the second release of their post-hiatus run following this year’s “BALISONG”.

Once again, they’re working with producer Tony Berg, who certainly embellishes their hooks. Like “BALISONG”, this track bubbles and sticks like all the best indie pop.

Of its origins, singer-songwriter Alex Greenwald said, “Once, I found myself walking on a deserted street in Brazil, dressed in a leopard print shirt and zebra striped pants. It was a hot day and I was sweating. A photographer for a fashion label was taking pictures of me. All of a sudden I heard words in my head — as if the sky had whispered them just to me — it said: ‘Remember you are part animal, part party animal.’ I couldn’t stop laughing. Maybe we should all remember we’re a little bit of both.” Deep.

Although an official tour is still being developing, Phantom Planet will soon play shows in both New York and Boston for their most die-hard and devoted fans. They’ll also open for Maroon 5 in Las Vegas on December 30th and 31st. Watch the ball drop as opposed to dropping the ball and grab tickets now before it’s too late.
