Peyton List Stars in Too Faced's Better Than Sex Eyeliner Launch Campaign

Peyton List can still remember when she was first introduced to Too Faced‘s cult-favorite mascara, Better Than Sex.

“Oh my gosh. The makeup artists on Jessie [the Disney Channel series List starred in from 2011 to 2015] actually used that mascara on me. I remember thinking when I was a kid, ‘Ooh, I’m kind of edgy on this Disney set wearing this mascara,'” the actress, 20, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “It not only became my favorite mascara, but also all of my best friends’ favorite too.”

So when Too Faced approached List and asked her to be the face of the new addition in the Better Than Sex family—a waterproof, liquid eyeliner!—she answered with a resounding “yes.”

“I’m so excited. The eyeliner is truly wonderful. I remember at the shoot, the makeup artist was freaking out because it lasted so long,” List says of Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Eyeliner, which launches March 17 at Ulta and TooFaced.com and April 5 at Sephora.

As for the Too Faced team, the brand immediately knew List was the perfect face of the newest product.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled that Peyton is the face because she so epitomizes the Too Faced woman,” says Too Faced co-founder and chief creative officer, Jerrod Blandino. “She’s modern and smart and sexy and funny and just so powerful within herself.”

List was first introduced to makeup when she would get glam to film Jessie. But she says she only just really mastered the technique of liquid liner thanks to Too Faced’s new innovation. “The pen makes it so, so much easier. It glides right on,” the actress says of the eyeliner, which features an easy-to-use, ultra-sharp tip for precision application.

As she grew up in front of the camera, List became even more obsessed with makeup and quickly started experimenting with “a classic winged liner and red lips.” But as of late, the star has switched up her go-to look.

“I’ll really do a more dramatic wing and bronze-y, natural colors on the lid. And then I will usually overline my lips to make them super pouty using a brown lipstick color,” she says.

List says her mom is actually the one person that gives her the most confidence when she’s modeling for shoots like this. “She’s always like, ‘Be sexy honey!'” List laughs. “She was always the one that encouraged me to wear whatever I wanted. She’s like, ‘Show more skin! Do whatever!'”

The star has such a close relationship with her mom, she even seeks her approval each time before she posts something on social media.

“I just posted a bikini photo and I sent it to my mom before I posted it,” List says. “I’m like is this okay? I’m so lucky to have my family.”
