Folk singer Peter Yarrow, of the group Peter, Paul and Mary, has been disinvited from this year's Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival in upstate New York.

On Monday, a festival representative confirmed that Yarrow will not headline the festival in September, citing reaction on social media about Yarrow's 1970 jail sentence for "indecent liberties" with a 14-year-old girl.

Colorscape's board president, Melissa DeCordova, said in a statement Tuesday they were unaware of the incident.

In 1970, Yarrow was sentenced to three months in jail after the incident in a Washington hotel room. In 1981, he was pardoned by President Jimmy Carter the day before he left office.

Yarrow was initially scheduled to perform on Sept. 8 along with performance painter Robert Channing. A replacement hasn't yet been named.

Channing, who's been featured on "America's Got Talent," and world-champion slam poet Buddy Wakefield have previously been announced as headliners.

The free, two-day festival will be held Sept. 7 and 8 in Norwich, New York.
