Peter Sarsgaard Joins Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz in Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’

Peter Sarsgaard has joined the cast of Matt Reeves’ “The Batman,” the director tweeted on Friday.

“Oh… Hi, Peter…,” the filmmaker tweeted alongside a gif of Sarsgaard, as well as the bat emoji often associated with the film.

Specifics of the role were not specified. Robert Pattinson is set to star as the Dark Knight, while Zoe Kravitz has been cast as Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman and Paul Dano has been cast as Edward Nashton, also known as the Riddler. John Turturro is playing Carmine Falcone. TheWrap previously reported that Andy Serkis was in talks to play Alfred Pennyworth and that Colin Farrell was in talks to star as The Penguin. Jeffrey Wright is playing Commissioner Gordon, while Jayme Lawson is set to star as well.

Reeves took over the directing gig after Ben Affleck stepped away from the role. Affleck was also expected to play Batman again but then said he would be hanging up the cape for good. Reeves has since described the film as a “defining” and “very personal” story about the Dark Knight, rather than an origin story in the vein of Frank Miller’s beloved “Year One” series.

Sarsgaard most recently starred in “Human Capital,” “The Sound of Silence” and “Loving Pablo,” and will next be seen in “Harry Haft” and “Ready to Ride: A Musical Homecoming.” His other credits include “Jackie,” ‘Black Mass,” “Green Lantern,” “Shattered Glass,” “The Looming Tower” and “The Slap.”

Sarsgaard is represented by WME, Anonymous Content and ID Public Relations.
