That didn't take long. After being appointed creative director of Roberto Cavalli in March 2015, Peter Dundas is now exiting the Italian fashion house.
"On behalf of Roberto Cavalli and our shareholders, we thank Peter Dundas for his contribution to the brand, and we wish him well for his future," Roberto Cavalli CEO Gian Giacomo Ferraris said Wednesday in a statement. "As Roberto Cavalli goes through a period of transformation, the design team will carry on and the appointment of a new creative director will be made in due course."

Dundas' successor has yet to be announced, but Business of Fashion reports that the luxury label is going to experience a company-wide reorganization following the designer's departure. The company will close its Milan offices and move its operations to Florence, as well as cut 200 positions from the current headcount of 672. A number of stores also will be closed or relocated.
"After my initial examination of the company I believe the Cavalli brand has what it takes to succeed," Ferraris told Business of Fashion. "But the reality is that the company's costs must be in line with its revenues and that is the task we now have to embark upon."
Dundas previously worked as chief designer at Cavalli from 2002 to 2005 before serving as Emilio Pucci's creative director for six years and then returning to Cavalli last year.
Dundas presented his last collection at Milan Fashion Week in September, where THR senior fashion editor Booth Moore described his Western-themed range as "rock n' roll, decadent and very L.A."

The designer's sexy creations were a favorite among the Hollywood set. Beyonce slayed in a Dundas-designed ruffle stunner in Lemonade; Kim Kardashian wore the first gown he made upon returning to the brand in 2015 to the Met Gala; and Cavalli ambassador Ciara enlisted him to design her wedding down when she tied the knot with Russell Wilson.
"I want to thank Roberto Cavalli and the Group for this valuable experience and I wish them the best in their future endeavors," said Dundas. "I am especially grateful to the ateliers and the teams who participated in this adventure."
