Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who) and Cush Jumbo (The Good Fight) are on the case in the full trailer for the upcoming Apple TV+ series Criminal Record, which you check out above.

Premiering the first two episodes on Wednesday, Jan. 10, the eight-episode crime thriller is a “character-driven drama set in the heart of contemporary London,” per the official synopsis. The story kicks off with an anonymous phone call which “draws two brilliant detectives into a confrontation over an old murder case.”

In the series, Capaldi portrays Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty, a well-connected man determined to protect his legacy, while Cush plays Detective Sergeant June Lenker, a young woman in the early stages of her career. The show touches on issues of “race, institutional failure and the quest to find common ground in a polarized Britain.”

Additional cast includes Charlie Creed-Miles (Ripper Street), Dionne Brown (The Walk-In), Shaun Dooley (The Stranger, Gentleman Jack), Stephen Campbell-Moore (War of the Worlds) and Zoë Wanamaker (Shadow and Bone).

Criminal Record joins a bevy of other star-studded content on the streamer, including the workplace thriller Severance starring Adam Scott; the Monsterverse drama Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, featuring Kurt and Wyatt Russell playing the character; and the period drama Lessons in Chemistry, which finds Brie Larson combatting sexism in the 1950s.
