Peter Brant II Shares Photo of Brother Harry Brant's 'Last Day' as He Mourns His Sudden Death

Harry Brant, Son of Stephanie Seymour and Peter Brant, Dead at 24

The socialite "achieved a lot in his 24 years, but we will never get the chance to see how much more Harry could have done," his family said in a statement

Peter Brant II — the son of supermodel Stephanie Seymour and high-profile businessman Peter Brant — is honoring his late brother Harry Brant, after the model and socialite died of an accidental overdose at age 24 on January 17.

On Thursday, Peter II posted a dimly-lit photo of Harry laying on the floor next to socialite Gaïa Jacquet-Matisse (the great-great-grandaughter of French artist Henri Matisse) in a burgundy velvet ensemble.

"Today we lay to rest, and honor the life of my brother, a true angel of light, an extraordinarily unique soul unlike any who have come before," Peter II, 27, wrote in the emotional Instagram caption. He went on to share that the photo was taken on his brother's "last day" and "shows the eternal beauty he will forever hold."

"It is impossible to express the devastation I feel for the loss of one with whom I shared not only a lifetime of beautiful memories, but with one who cared so deeply for my own happiness, was so devoted to my personal comfort, It is the loss not only of a brother, but of a best friend, my other half," Peter, who often attended events and parties with Harry, continued. "My heart shatters to think we will never see that dear sweet face again. @harry_brant"

Brant family friends and fashion industry insiders sent their condolences to Peter in the comment section.

"I loved and will love him forever...extra-ordinary creature...as for you Peter II, I hug you with all my love," designer Giambattista Valli wrote. Love eternal 🕊" model Soo Joo added.

"Broken hearts everywhere what a beautiful soul," Bella Thorne (who, along with celebrities like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner, was friends with Harry) wrote. While Candice Swanepoel added a heart emoji.

Earlier this week, the socialite's family confirmed that he died on Sunday of an accidental overdose in a statement to the New York Times.

"It is with enormous sorrow that we share with you the news that our beloved son, Harry Brant, lost his battle with addiction and died due to an accidental overdose of prescription medication," Seymour and Brant shared in a statement with PEOPLE. "Our hearts are shattered. Harry wanted to overcome his addiction and was just days away from re-entering rehab."

"Harry was not just our son, he was also a wonderful brother, loving grandson, favorite uncle and a caring friend. He was a creative, loving and powerful soul that brought light into so many people's hearts. He was truly a beautiful person inside and out."

His parents also shared how much growing up in the fashion industry meant to their son. "Harry loved fashion and was a trailblazer of beauty and cosmetic products for men – collaborating with a major brand on a unisex cosmetic line. He was also a dedicated writer for Interview Magazine and his dream was to be a much bigger part of its creative department. He achieved a lot in his 24 years, but we will never get the chance to see how much more Harry could have done. We will forever be saddened that Harry's life was cut short by this devastating disease. We ask that you please allow our family privacy as we attempt to cope with the loss of our beautiful, beautiful boy."

Harry was a model, appearing in Italian Vogue and Balmain campaigns. He also previously released a unisex makeup line with his brother for MAC, and wrote as a teenager for Interview magazine, which his father owned.
