Pete Davidson's Tattoo Removal Process Will Continue for “Two Years”

Pete Davidson offered an update on the surprising news that he's planning to remove all of his tattoos. With more than 100 tats to erase, the Saturday Night Live star confirmed that it's going to take some time before the process is finished.

For those just joining us in this great tattoo removal saga, it was reported back in December that Pete had already quietly started getting rid of his tattoos. Film critic Mike McGranaghan shared that Pete had announced the news during a virtual press event for The King of Staten Island. The comedian then reportedly shared a look at one of his hands, which was apparently already relatively free of ink. 

In a new interview, Pete shared that the removal process continues on. Speaking with with PeopleTV about his partnership with smartwater he said that it had been “four or five months” since his last removal session. “I get my next treatment in like a month or so. They said by the time I'm 30, they should all be gone. So they got like two more years left of this,” he said.

According to Pete, it takes his skin nearly a month after each session to heal. As for what's required of the removal process, Pete had appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers, saying that “burning them off is worse than getting them.” Miami-based dermatologist Roberta Del Campo previously told Teen Vogue that multiple removal treatments are required, the removal process can be pricey, and that with time, it is possible to completely remove a tattoo. 

Over the years, Pete had continually made headlines for his choice of ink, including ones that served as cover ups for previous artwork. His decision to get rid of the tattoos ultimately came down to his career. "I didn't think that they would put me in stuff — like the movie business. I thought after SNL, it's a wrap," he had joked with Seth Meyers. “It takes like three hours — you have to get there three hours earlier to cover all your tattoos, because for some reason, people in movies, they don’t have them that much.” 

Fans will have to wait and see whether Pete's every tattoo ends up disappearing over the next two years. Until then, you can spot the comedian without some of his signature ink in the upcoming Suicide Squad film.
